Video Premiere: eliminating toxic chemicals thru targeting six classes of chemicals
Posted over 8 years ago by Denise Souza
Dear OSH community,
You are invited to the online premiere of a new series of four-minute videos on Six Classes of Chemicals on June 22, 29, and July 6. Please Register here
In the OSH world, we primarily operate in the OSHA framework where the focus has been to eliminate or reduce exposures to chemicals one at a time - while knowing that this is a long and ineffective path to protect workers, with regrettable substitutions being all too familiar.
The Six Classes Approach is an innovative strategy to reduce the use of whole classes of harmful chemicals in consumer products and building materials. This prevents of common practice of substituting a similar chemical for one that is phased out. Using this approach, environmental scientists have begun to break the ties between the chemical industry and other sectors. The recent elimination of a California requirement that furniture be made with flame retardants is just one success story that protects consumers and workers.
Please join us on Thursdays June 22, 29 or July 6 from 11am -12pm Pacific for webcasts featuring short videos and live conversations with scientists and thought leaders.
Please register to join us and share the invitation below with your colleagues and friends.
