Pre-Notice Public Discussion Preliminary Regulation - Standards for Nurse

Hi Everyone,

Please note the BRN announcements re: NP regulation and the note referring to ANP board certification below in red.

The Board of Registered Nursing directed staff to initiate the Office of Administrative Law's pre-notice public discussion as a preliminary activity before starting the formal rulemaking process for Article 8 Standards for Nurse Practitioners proposed regulation (see attached).

The Board invites interested parties to submit information/responses regarding the proposed regulation to the Nursing Practice Committee. Please visit the Board's website for additional information and directions on submitting your information/responses for consideration.

NOTE the change for ANPs: Are you an ANP with current national board certification? If not, please visit http://www.aanpcert.org/ptistore/control/newsitem?id=32 to schedule and take the national board exam and learn more about action you need to take. The ANP specialty will be retired and the ANP/Gerontology will be required.

There is still time to apply to take this national certification exam until 12/31/15 for ANCC and August 2016 for American Academy of NPs---

Here is ANCC language in reference to the ANP exam: "...The last application for this examination will be accepted on December 31, 2015. Eligible applicants may take the examination until the final test administration on December 31, 2016."

Here is the American Academy NP recent news update: "...All applications for the Adult NP exam need to be submitted by August 2016 to allow sufficient time to process applications and schedule a testing date prior to the December (2016) deadline."
