On Tuesday, June 23, the White House will host health professionals, including APHA's Executive Director, Georges C. Benjamin, MD, and other stakeholders at a summit to discuss the link between climate change and health. The summit also will look at the role the public health and medical communities can play in protecting their communities from climate-related health threats. Addressing the health impacts of climate change remains a priority for APHA.

The summit will be live streamed from the White House beginning at 12:30 p.m. EDT and will feature remarks by U.S. Surgeon General Vivek Murthy and U.S. Environmental Protection Agency Administrator Gina McCarthy. The event will also include several expert panels highlighting what public health, medical and other community leaders are already doing to address climate change in their communities.

Viewers will also have the opportunity to submit questions to President Obama's top science advisors and can share their climate-related stories on social media using the hashtag #ActOnClimate.

We hope you can tune in next Tuesday to this important event!

Sincerely,
Don Hoppert
Director of Government Relations, APHA
