President Obama Proposes To Double Viral Hepatitis Budget
President Obama's proposed budget for Fiscal Year 2016, released on February 3, 2015, includes many provisions that would significantly improve the fight against hepatitis B and C. The President has proposed doubling the budget for the Division of Viral Hepatitis at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, allocating resources to provide hepatitis C treatment for veterans, increasing funding for programs that address opioid/heroin addiction, and allowing the use of federal funds for syringe exchange programs. National Coalition for Sexual Health Releases Updated Guide
NVHR is on the Steering Committee of the National Coalition for Sexual Health, which has recently updated its guide on sexual health and preventive services. The guide includes information about viral hepatitis, with an emphasis on hepatitis B.

NVHR Supports Health Care Expansion For Immigrants
On February 9, 2015, NVHR submitted comments to the White House Task Force on New Americans urging the Task Force to allow individuals granted relief under the President's Immigration Accountability Executive Actions to participate in health care options under the Affordable Care Act and Medicaid in states that have taken up expanded coverage options. This health care expansion is particularly important for hepatitis B, which disproportionately impacts the foreign-born.

CDC's Black History Month Webpage
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has developed a special page on its website for Black History Month, featuring information about the disproportionate impact of hepatitis C on the African American community. The page includes links to a wide range of hepatitis C tools and resources.

2013 Viral Hepatitis Action Plan Progress Report
On January 30, 2015, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services' Office of HIV/AIDS and Infectious Disease Policy released its third annual report of progress in implementing the Action Plan for the Prevention, Care, and Treatment of Viral Hepatitis. The report highlights many key accomplishments under each of the Plan's six priority areas as reported by federal partners from across the government.
