FWD - AOHP email on National Executive Order COVID Vaccination 091021
President Joe Biden signed a pair of Executive Orders on September 9 requiring all federal workers, contractors and healthcare workers employed by institutions that receive Medicare or Medicaid funding and reimbursements be fully vaccinated. White House press secretary Jen Psaki said there will be limited disability and religious exceptions to the federal employee vaccine requirement. Those who are not exempt and do not comply will be subject to disciplinary action, including possible termination. In the private sector, businesses with more than 100 employees must require vaccinations or weekly COVID testing. President Biden said the plans will affect 100 million workers.
Biden also directed the Department of Labor’s Occupational Safety and Health Administration to issue a Standard that would require all businesses with 100 or more employees to require that workers be fully vaccinated or get tested for the virus once a week. Employers who fail to meet these requirements could face fines of up to $14,000 per violation.
