COVID-19 Pandemic: Medical Care Costs Eligible for Public Assistance
Under the President’s March 13, 2020 COVID-19 emergency declaration1 and subsequent major disaster declarations for COVID-19, state, local, tribal, and territorial (SLTT) government entities and certain private non-profit (PNP) organizations are eligible to apply for assistance under the FEMA Public Assistance (PA) Program.
This policy defines the framework, policy details, and requirements for determining the eligibility of medical care costs under the PA Program to ensure consistent and appropriate implementation across all COVID-19 emergency and major disaster declarations.
FEMA will provide assistance for medical care provided under COVID-19. Certain labor costs associated with medical staff providing treatment to COVID-19 patients, purchase, lease, and delivery of specialized medical equipment, PPE, durable medical equipment, and consumable medical supplies respond to COVID-19 may be eligible.
