Lead Poisoning Prevention Week
October 21-27

Lead Poisoning Prevention Week reminds us that lead poisoning on the job remains a widespread and serious health concern for thousands of workers in California [see our 2012-14 report].

The Division of Occupational Health & Safety (Cal/OSHA) expects to have a pre-rulemaking package for updating California’s Lead Standards to the Standards Board by the end of 2018, with an opportunity for public comment possible in 2019. To learn more about Cal/OSHA’s standard setting process, visit Steps to Develop an Occupational Health Standard.

The CDPH Occupational Lead Poisoning Prevention Program is now offering free, in-person, and online continuing medical education (CME) courses for health care providers that highlight medical management guidelines for lead exposed workers. To schedule an in-person course, contact us at (866) 627-1587 or olppp@cdph.ca.gov.
