Hepatitis C – It’s About More than Liver Disease
Posted about 7 years ago by Denise Souza
The latest installment in NVHR’s “Hepatitis C – It’s About More than Liver Disease” fact sheet series highlights the connection between hepatitis C (HCV) and certain skin conditions. Recognizing these skin conditions is important because they might be the first sign of HCV infection. HCV infection can produce a variety of skin conditions ranging from an itchy rash to painful skin ulcers. Because skin conditions can have many different causes, they may be difficult to diagnose, and it may be hard to know if they are associated with underlying HCV infection.
To increase awareness about the skin conditions related to HCV, NVHR has released a new fact sheet describing the symptoms, diagnosis, and possible complications associated with these conditions. This information will be useful to patients as well as healthcare providers across many specialties including dermatology, neurology, primary care, and infectious disease.
This fact sheet is the fifth in NVHR’s series about the relationship between HCV and other health conditions – learn more and view our other fact sheets here.
