Who Are We: Alliance Occupational Medicine, in partnership with BioFunction, is a leading medical provider of evidence-based Functional Restoration Services to the South Bay Area. Our services include:
 Providing comprehensive Work Capacity Evaluations to objectively identify the safe and sustainable work capabilities of an injured worker,
 Supplying robust functional restoration treatment used to restore complex biomechanical deficiencies, compounded by pain behavior overlays, to either their full duty work capability or maximum medical improvement, and
 Offering skills-based, cognitive Pain Coping Skills Training/Education to help workers develop better self-management of their chronic pain responses.

What We Are Looking For: We are seeking energetic, compassionate and thoughtful Registered Nurses who are interested in joining our team to help build our Functional Restoration Program. Working closely with our Program Director and occupational medical staff, the successful candidate will be accountable for the following:
 Collecting raw clinical data regarding the work tolerance capabilities of an injured worker,
 Conducting post-examination debriefing sessions to educate the worker regarding their demonstrated safe and sustainable work capabilities,
 Administering rehabilitative restoration therapies, and
 Providing appropriate educational pain coping skills training for correcting delayed recovery barriers identified during the examination process.
After completing a comprehensive training program specific skills requirements will include:
 Acceptably conducting a detailed work capacity examination for an injured worker to identify biomechanical deficiencies, pain behaviors, psychosocial overlays and motivational interferences,
 Conducting a debriefing interview and gathering essential information needed for final report writing,
 Using therapeutic communication to assist the examinee in improving their comprehension of their performances, risks and biomechanical capabilities,
 Explaining the significance of the test procedures & methods used to determine work capability to the examinee,
 Guiding and instructing an examinee into more productive cognitive behavioral patterns when they demonstrate a pronounced pain focus to avoid returning to the work levels performed during their examination
 Communicating the continuum of psychosocial overlays as it relates to movement and body-mind relationships,
 Making adjustments and changes to an individual’s rehabilitation program designs, administering new procedures, providing feedback on implementation efforts and assessing the effectiveness of these changes when necessary,
 Being able to discuss exam & debriefing results with other allied care professionals (treating physicians, medical assistants, schedulers, claims adjusters, nurse case managers, employer contacts, internal supervisory / management staff, etc) to facilitate communication and consistency
 Being able to organize and input raw evaluation data into Excel spreadsheets with accuracy, completeness and in a timely manner to expedite report writing procedures,
 Being able to complete patient & treatment follow-up calls, re-debriefing as necessary, working with and supporting the appeals processing as requested in a timely and efficient manner, and re-directing examinees to medical services as needed to facilitate case management efforts including making regular entries to the case tracking software program and ensuring resolution of any barriers to moving the case forward,
 Conducting medical record and chart reviews to help identify appropriate candidates for Work Restoration services, and
 Being able to regularly contribute new ideas, “talk-up” benefits and features or program to others (internal and external) and actively demonstrate a genuine interest in making the Functional Restoration program the best program available.

The successful candidate must possess:
 Ability to adjust to frequently changing work demands (evaluator, coach, trainer, administrator, etc.)
 Ability to be self-starter and to take initiative
 Active CA RN license with no disciplinary actions
 Good oral and written communication skills
 Computer literacy in WORD, EXCEL, Internet Explorer, Outlook
 3+ years of sound and verifiable RN level clinical experience
 A good grasp of (or the ability to learn) Occupational Medicine / Workers Comp / Pain Management environments
 Medical case management, and/or rehab nursing, experience is a strong plus but not necessarily required
 Bilingual (English & Spanish) helpful but not necessary
 Prior related work experience preferred
 Willing to obtain Certified Pain Management Nurse certification within 2 years of hire
 Willing to work from our Santa Clara clinic
